The Exmore Diner has been a frequent stop for both locals and visitors since 1954. Our customers return again and again for the fresh, Eastern Shore Seafood, and local produce, friendly atmosphere, prompt service, and home-style cooking. Experience the informal, relaxed atmosphere at the Exmore Diner and be taken back to a time when life was simpler and courtesy and idealism were the rule rather than the exception.
Inside you will find the walls tiled in pale pink, yellow and black having not left the 50s. The atmosphere of the production model “Silk City” diner moved down from New Jersey still remains. The kitchen has been expanded and modernized, but many parts of the Diner, though not all in use, are original including the stainless steel back splash, the brushed chrome that now wears the patina of age, the coolers, stools, wood-framed windows and booths, and tabletops. Warmth and friendliness more than makes up for the lack of fancy garnishes.
Even with a seating capacity of just 44, 6 booths and 20 stools, but due prompt service, the Diner still manages to serve 350 meals daily, 450 on weekends. Beginning at 6 a.m. the Diner will fill with waterman and farmers coming in for steaming cups of coffee. Legend has it that Elvis even ate here, first stool, right side of the diner near the door before it arrived here in Exmore. But the backbone, and maybe its heart and soul, can be found in the locals, some of whom visit 2-3 times a day. So come on in and warm up a stool until a table opens up, order from our menu or Special Board with nightly specials including Chicken and Dumplings on Tuesdays, Meatloaf on Wednesdays and Spaghetti on Thursdays.
